Wall regulator movement

The case stayed on the wall in Fox Point. Only the movement came to me.

Movement
Weight-driven regulator, dead beat
On the bench
Thirteen weeks

The owner took it down himself, wrapped the pendulum separately and drove it over, which is the right way to move a clock and almost nobody does it.

The brass was black with a century of oil turned to varnish. Cleaned, four pivots burnished, two plates rebushed where the wear had gone oval, and the pendulum rod straightened. Beat set by ear on the bench and then again on the wall, because a regulator hung true in one room is not hung true in another.

As it arrived: brass dark with old oil, one pivot worn.
