An eight-day movement is a wristwatch with more room and a longer temper. This one had a glass cracked across a corner and a dial water-marked from a leak somewhere above it in 1970-something.

New glass cut and fitted, the movement stripped and cleaned, one worn pivot burnished and rebushed. The dial marks were stabilised and left. It runs for eight days on a wind, loses about a minute over that, and the owner has it on the desk it came from.
