It came in a padded envelope from Warwick with a note saying it had belonged to the sender's mother and had not run since 2014. The crystal was so hazed you could not read the dial through it, and the case had been polished at some point by someone in a hurry.
The movement was dry rather than broken. Stripped, cleaned, a new mainspring, two worn jewels replaced, and the bumper springs reset so the winding weight stops where it should. I fitted a new acrylic crystal and left the case alone beyond cleaning it, because the soft edges are forty years of somebody's wrist and not mine to remove.
